LOW SANITARY STANDARDS FOR WOMEN
Poor women in India wear fabric made sanitary pads. The pads in supermarkets are not affordable by them. They must wash them by hand and with just cold water. Neither the affordable washing machines used here, do work with hot water. It’s understandable that the fabric pads are not hygienic at all. This is the reason why bacteria can be spread easily from one to the other. So they get ill. The doctor’s fee is expensive. Illness won’t be cured or only when it’s very late.

SANYTARY PADS MADE BY HAND AND AND SOLD BY THE WOMEN THEMSELVE
To fight against it, Saahas is producing affordable pads made by the women for the women. They also sell them by word-of mouth publicity. With each produced and sold pad, they earn a wage and help to improve the hygiene standards.
